Pharmako Biotechnologies, a specialist in scientific research and innovative product development, was awarded the coveted NutraIngredients Editors Award for Functional Food Innovation for LipiSperse®, one of the company’s technologies for increased bioavailability.
LipiSperse is a cold-water dispersible (CWD) technology specifically designed to improve bioavailability and functionality of lipophilic ingredients. LipiSperse achieves this due to its ability to dramatically improve the dispersion of lipophilic particles, which prevents agglomeration and improves the effective specific surface area, whilst also delivering a higher active load. Recent pharmacokinetic studies of LipiSperse combined with HydroCurc® (curcumin), as well as Levagen+™ (palmitoylethanolamide, or PEA) show this patented CWD delivery system provides enhanced bioavailability.
“We are thrilled to receive this respected industry recognition,” said Eric Meppem, co-founder and director of Pharmako Biotechnologies. “The development of LipiSperse has helped our industry better solve the bioavailability issues we’ve faced with the many hydrophobic ingredients. Now, we can meet the twin demands of bioavailability and functionality within the food, beverage and dietary supplements marketplaces.”
There were four finalists in the Editors Choice category, and the winner was selected based on the best novel technology for functional food and beverages. The award was graciously accepted by Pharmako co-founders Eric Meppem and George Kokkinis with R.V. Venkatesh, managing director of Gencor Pacific, Pharmako’s American sister company, at the NutraIngredients reception during Vitafoods Europe 2019.
“LipiSperse is truly excelling innovation within our industry, said R.V. Venkatesh. “We are honored to be partners with Pharmako and applaud them for the technological advancements they are bringing to the nutraceutical and functional food and beverage industries.”
